Seacraft sighed and shoved his hands in his pockets. "We'll just have to keep looking for him. I'm not rightly sure where to look. The lake got pretty stirred up this morning when that squall line moved through. I told my men we'd have to search those rocks at the base of the cliff a second time. If he was in the car when it went over the edge, he could have been thrown out on impact. If that's the case, he could be wedged down there in those rocks someplace. I've already made up my mind that if we haven't located him by late afternoon, I'm gonna put out an APB on him."
Charlie glanced across the table at Peggy. She was watching him intently. He knew she suspected something. He could tell by the look on her face.
Seacraft tipped his hat, revealing for the first time the long, ugly purple scar that had traversed its way up from behind his right ear to the top of his head.
